The knowledge acquired during the 1st generation vaccine studies is helpful and relevant for the development of the Multimeric vaccine. The Multimeric vaccine consists of multiple conserved influenza epitopes expressed within the flagellin, or as a synthetic protein that will be evaluated as is, or within experimental and commercially approved adjuvants for humans. In the Multimeric Vaccine, the ratio of flagellin (=adjuvant) to epitopes (=antigen) is lower than in the 1st generation vaccine formulation. Apart from flagellin, other adjuvants for human use will be added to the Multimeric protein to increase immunogenicity if necessary.

Multimeric Vaccine
This vaccine is expected to offer several advantages over the first generation methodology:
  • A single recombinant protein preparation that includes all the epitopes;
  • Multiple copies of the conserved Influenza;
  • Additional conserved influenza epitopes beyond those included in the first generation formulation.
